Vacuum toilets are flush toilets that use suction for the removal of faeces and urine resulting in a minimal requirement of water (0.35 to 0.5 litres). Vacuum toilets provide the same level of comfort as traditional flush toilets and they help saving costs due to the minimised amount of flush water. Due to the fact that the effluent has a high organic matter content, vacuum toilets are specifically adapted for the use in combination with separate greywater and blackwater treatment; or aerobic digestion treatment for biogas production. Vacuum toilet systems are applicable both in large and small buildings, trains, ships and airplanes.
This toilet uses biodegradable technology to treat feces and sewage, achieving a combination of environmental protection and practicality. It is different from traditional flush toilets in that it does not need to be connected to the urban sewage pipe network. Instead, it uses an internal microbial degradation system to convert excrement into harmless organic matter, and ultimately achieves natural degradation. This kind of toilet is designed with convenience, practicality and environmental protection in mind. It is especially suitable for urban fringe areas, tourist attractions, large-scale event sites and other places where there is no access to the urban sewage pipe network. The core of the biodegradable mobile toilet lies in its biodegradation technology. The toilet is equipped with a special biodegradable container, which is filled with specially treated microbial strains. When excrement enters the container, microbial strains will quickly decompose the organic matter in it and generate carbon dioxide, water and a small amount of harmless solid matter. This process is usually completed within a few hours to a few days, and the treated material can be used as organic fertilizer, realizing the resource utilization of waste.

Ultimately, waste systems that rely solely on gravity for the transport of waste can be thought of as a "super-highway" for germ movement throughout a building: all fixtures drain into a common, connected piping network that is routed through the structure and directly connected to the sewer, but is open to atmospheric pressure at fixture drains and vent stacks.
Not only do these systems allow for sewage backup through fixture drains, but other recent studies suggest that air from within the piping is sometimes displaced through the drains and traps, making the entire system fundamentally less sanitary than a vacuum system. But beyond the health and sanitary considerations, vacuum plumbing offers a number of additional benefits.
During the flush cycle a valve at the toilet outlet is opened which draws air in through the bowl. The incoming air assists in evacuating the water and waste from the toilet bowl and into the waste piping and moving it to the sanitary sewer system.
By allowing incoming air to draw waste water into the piping system, rather than relying on incoming water to push the waste out of the bowl, toilet plume is eliminated.
